"Many friends died. We left everything behind"

Before russia's full-scale invasion, the Bakhmut community had about 80,000 residents, including 70,000 in the town itself.

Nataliia's family left Bakhmut after intense shelling in May 2022. The settlement was subjected to powerful air raids. They had to get the child out urgently! They took only the things that the car could hold. In Bakhmut, Nataliia says, many of her friends and colleagues were killed.
