Olha remembers well how rockets flew at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of her home village, Yahidne. While hiding in the cellar, she could hear constant shelling and the sound of cannons. The invaders occupied Yahidne, and made a warehouse of their military equipment in Olha's yard. They also settled in her house. The house was already broken, with no windows. The Russians covered them with blankets and did not allow the owners to go home, even to take the necessary things. Later, the occupiers sent Olha and her fellow villagers to the basement of the local school. There, she was held captive among the dead for 27 days.
